Since October 7, more than 200 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli security forces in the West Bank. “There have been mass arrests of Palestinians suspected of being part of Hamas and also other groups, and settler violence has increased – not that it wasn’t [already] very high before the war,” says Shezaf.

“This has resulted in some Palestinian villages evacuating themselves due to the settlers’ threats and violence.” One of the main friction points has been the olive harvest.

According to Shezaf, many Palestinians find themselves unable to harvest this year at all: Young settlers “have WhatsApp groups where they notify others about where there are Palestinians picking olives, and then they show up to scare them.

In one area, settlers put leaflets on Palestinian cars saying they will suffer a ‘Great Nakba.’

Not in all cases, but in some cases, it’s the army that is preventing people from harvesting their olives.”

In Turmus Ayya, a town that was attacked by settlers in June, Shezaf says she heard from the mayor that “about 80 percent of the residents are not going out to harvest this year because they are afraid.”

Another critical issue in the conversation was the number of Palestinians detained in Israel since the start of the Gaza war.

“One of the first things that Israel did on October 7 is cancel the work permits of thousands of Gazans,” who were in Israel working legally at the time. “In the first couple of days, many of them tried to stay where they are.

Some tried to reach the West Bank, but quite soon after that Israel started to arrest them. Most of them were not suspected of anything. They were detained because their permits were canceled.”

This has led to overpopulation and mistreatment of detainees. Some soldiers even posted their abuse of detainees online. “A couple weeks into the war, I found out that two Palestinians had died in Israeli detention,” in unrelated incidents, Shezaf shares. “Both of them were sick. One had diabetes and one was a cancer patient.

When I spoke to the family of the detainee that had diabetes, they did not know that he died. It was a very unfortunate role that I played, confirming to his family that he died. He was a diabetic, but he basically died because no one gave him his medicine.”

Well, no village has been willingly evacuated at all. We can’t tell if the prisoners are mostly H….. s because no one can know and wouldn’t admit they are.

I haven’t heard or read something from this Shezaf woman before. I think she is not accurate.

Villagers usually stay inside their homes because of fear when such attacks happen. They do nothing because owners of weapons use them to just show off not for the protection of their people.

The groups she is talking about is the hills youngsters ” Fetyato At_Telal.”

None of the workers tried to reach the West Bank because it is impossible. They were captured by the Israeli police and released to the West Bank areas them hundreds were rearrested from where they were staying.

They were six prisoners in the first week. They would be hit and tortured when asking for their medicine.

Do Palestinian doctors perform an abortion if it is medically necessary to save the woman’s life?

Of course, they will. It is up to doctors to decide , not families or government people. No one prevents that. We all follow Islam and it strictly orders to save mothers’ lives. We are muslims , but not ignorants.

Yes , they do immediately. Sometimes they do it quickly while explaining the situation for the family.

Islam has details for everything.

Women are of a much higher financial and spiritual rank , but people should follow it regardless of their personal interpretations and desires or you will have a deformed community.

I think it is about the time to feel shameful for working for the Israelis mainly in building settlements although in recent years Palestinian workers are being replaced by Indian , Thai or other nationalities. We should create alternatives and jobs ourselves . It is about time to do so after 75 years of occupation

Yes, Republicans oppose a woman getting an abortion even when it is to save her life…they’re crazy.

I can only say they are inhumane. In Palestine there are no perfect people but even the most ignorant people would listen to doctors . I know a woman who felt pain , called her doctor, got medicine , it didn’t work , she got an abortion in the clinic after three days.

Americans may be think we Arabs and muslims won’t care for medical opinions and we follow what religious men ( Sheikhs ) say , but in this case Islam says the scientific medical opinion should be the determining factor and that what most non_ muslims don’t know.

The debate in the US about this issue is great because you have different community structures , different culture and relations.
